our voyages

We have designed voyages for young people based on their life-stage : in and out of school adolescents , youth &youth workers . Also we support youth-centri organsiations, youth facilitators and teachers..These voyages have been put together using a psychosocial perspective, one that works on mind set transformation as much as social change. Some of the themes we work on largely continue to be human rights, peace, sustainable development, social justice, education, sexual and reproductive health, early child marriage, environmental sustainability, social inclusion, gender-based violence, social entrepreneurship and employability, communal harmony, youth development.

adolescent
intervention

Initiated back in 1992, the Adolescent Intervention works with 13-17 year old adolescents through carefully crafted inputs to develop adolescents as responsible citizens via

i development of core competencies such as deep -self-awareness, relationship building and understanding of social issues .At present the programme is operational in Delhi

NCR and Jaipur. We have established partnerships with more than 400 schools in Delhi and Jaipur and through them we reach out to adolescents from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Our school partners range from established public schools to minority schools and also Government schools. We have developed in-house curricula’s to suit the needs and requirements of different adolescent groups and we adopt multiple methodologies to transact the curricula’s to reach out to more than 1500 young

audiences interactive every year via workshops, nteractive sessions , internships , rural camps.

Students in middle and senior schools are at such a stage of life where they are keen to understand themselves, eagerly explore interpersonal relationships and the world in

general. It is a phase characterized not just by physical development but also psychological and sexual maturation leading to adolescents having many questions about life. This is the time they are confronted with the daily dilemma of witnessing values under pressure and making tough choices and taking difficult decisions. Therefore Al’s approach with young people rests on two critical factors – reflection and action. Al strives to create experiential spaces and journeys that empower adolescents to reflect and take rational decisions.

Friendship UdaNkhatola (FUN) Camp’ is a powerful experiential learning journey from the self to the society which offers school students an insight into rural life through direct engagement with the rural community. It is a 5-6 day experiential camp in a rural setting (host organization) where inroads are made into understanding the perspective of the cultural and regional “other”, breaking stereotypes by asking powerful questions and establishing commonalities and interlinkages between different communities. It is a brilliant opportunity for school students to build friendships with rural adolescents by working in a team, challenging assumptions and addressing their fears and moving out of their comfort zones, thereby building connects with people from different contexts. These camps are organized usually in the month of March-June and September- December. The camps provide a huge learning opportunity for students where the learning’s range from deeper understanding of

issues, learning new things about oneself, value of labour (cutting crops, drawing water from

the well ) increase in confidence levels, making new friends to learning to express oneself.
